Annual eye exams are important for everyone, as they are the only way to monitor eye health and check for problems/diseases. Early detection of conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy allows for the widest range of treatment options and the best chance of slowing or reversing any symptoms.

Prior to your examination with the doctor, you will be with one of our technicians. He/she will do some preliminary testing and go over your medical, ocular, and family history. You will also have the opportunity to discuss any problems you may be having with your eyes, vision, current contacts, etc.

The doctor will come in next and provide a thorough eye exam, including everything from checking your eye muscle movements, to updating your glasses/contact lens prescription, to checking the health of the inside and outside of your eyes using magnification and light.

We check for all eye diseases and rule out any abnormalities such as: glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disorders, diabetic retinopathy, cancer of the eye, corneal dystrophies, eye muscle movement problems, retinal detachments, optic nerve disorders, etc.

As a bonus, our office does not use the “puff of air” test, and we have a retinal camera available so you’ll have the opportunity to see a picture of the inside of your eyes.
